Estie

It's Sunday night. And I'm not dead

To quote one of Luke Skywalker's ill-fated gunners, "I feel like I could take onthe entire Empire"! That has got to be the most thrilling experience of my life. The first show was Hell, largely due to heat, humidity, and nerves conspiring against my lungs, but the evening one? Sheer bliss. The pre-show pep talk moved most of us (myself included) to tears, and everyone was hugging as we headed for the field. No pain until we stopped; I was too hyped up to hurt. "Four dead in O-hi-o!" echoed off the bleachers! All my old Mountain View band buddies were cheering me on and telling me how great it was to see me. The biggest surprise, though, was getting bearhugged by Rees and having him tell me how proud he was of me and how far I'd come from from the time when nobody thought I was going to make it through band camp. I felt loved. :)

There was a time when I wasn't sure if I was coming back to the band next year. That time is over.
